The American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois (ACEC-Illinois) conducts an annual scholarship program which provides several $1,500 Named Scholarships. These scholarships are sponsored by ACEC-Illinois Member Firms. A committee of ACEC-Illinois consulting engineers evaluate applications and select the scholarship winners. In addition, the top award winner also receives the $2500 Lonnie H. Carter Memorial Scholarship and advances to compete at the National level for an additional $10,000, $7,500 or $5,000 scholarship. At the discretion of the judges, a student not receiving the top award, may qualify to have their application forwarded to National to compete in the $5,000 Council of American Structural Engineers (CASE) specialty Scholarship. Only students who are enrolled in a Master's degree program for Structural Engineering in the fall of 2013 will be eligible for this scholarship. Student must either be either in an ABET-accredited Master of Science (MS) engineering program or have a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
- Eligibility
- The 2013 competition will be open to U.S Citizen engineering students currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)-accredited engineering program or in an ABET-accredited land surveying program located in the state of Illinois. Students must be entering their Junior, Senior, Fifth year or Master's degree in the Fall of 2013.
