Dave Bender is the President & CEO of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois (ACEC-IL) appointed in December 2012. He represents over 240 firms that employ nearly 14,000 employees.
Bender has nearly 20 years in association management and previously served as an assistant to former Illinois Governor Jim Edgar. Edgar later appointed him as the Assistant Director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture from 1995-1999. Dave was elected to the Executive Committee of ACEC National in Washington, DC in his role as President of the National Association Engineering Council of Executives in 2017-18. Bender currently serves as Chair of the State House Committee for the Transportation for Illinois Coalition. He was selected by Illinois Governor JB Pritzker to the Restoring Illinois Infrastructure Transition Committee in 2018.
Bender is also the co-founder of the Illinois Business Immigration Coalition where he currently volunteers as a co-chair.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies from the University of Illinois at Springfield.
Bender resides in Lincoln, Illinois with his wife Carla.
