Purpose: To coordinate and work with existing ACEC-IL agency committees regarding issues that affect DBE/WBE/MBE firms, including diversity, disparity and Mentor-Protégé programs. Key committee members may attend ACEC-IL agency committee meetings at the request of agency committee chairs. This committee also plans educational sessions throughout the year as well as recommending topics and speakers for the Winter Conference Business Networking Forum and the Fall Membership Meeting.

Purpose: To operate the Chicago area program designed to serve as a mentor program to encourage grade and middle school students to excel in math and science curricula and eventually enter engineering school. Members prepare monthly in-class presentations and/or conducts field trips.

Purpose: To plan at least four (4) regional luncheons each year, one per quarter. To assist member firms to develop a better understanding and application of new and improved construction materials, utilization of new technologies to development improved material solutions and to engage Federal, State, County and Local Agencies to encourage use of more effective construction materials to extend life cycle costs.
Purpose: ACEC-Illinois members who have had 15 years or less within their industry. These members should be those who are already a strong performer and are preparing to assume/reach higher positions within their industry. Purpose: The Emerging Professionals committee will gather quarterly, in different regions, to have an educational and networking session with peers and firm principals on different chosen interest subjects. The Emerging Professionals committee will also aim to plan a session speaker at the ACEC Illinois Fall Conference and host a webinar for all ACEC Illinois members, yearly.
Purpose: To conduct the annual project awards competition, including proofing the entry form, securing judges, prescreening the submittals to determine eligibility, and assisting during the awards presentation.

Purpose: The Public Engagement Committee will identify and promote best practices for outreach, education and stakeholder involvement related to projects that have an impact to the public. A primary goal of the committee will be to ensure agencies and organizations are engaging, educating, and communicating with stakeholders using the latest tactics and platforms for collaboration to deliver major infrastructure and transportation improvements.
Purpose: To maintain open lines of communication with the agency and to work on projects and issues of mutual concern. Committee meets with the agency staff two (2) times a year in Springfield.

Purpose: To meet with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency for the purpose of maintaining open lines of communication and to work on projects and issues of mutual concern, as well as planning seminars pertaining to environmental initiatives, regulations, opportunities and sustainability issues. The committee recognizes an equally important private sector environmental practice area and will not be limited strictly to agency issues. The committee also stays in contact with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources as needed. The committee meets with the agency(s) two (2) to four (4) times a year.
