John Naughton, P.E., is Director of Transportation at Valdes Architecture & Engineering, where he leads the firm's transportation practice and business development initiatives throughout the Midwest. With more than 35 years of experience in transportation engineering and construction management, he has managed complex highway, bridge, airport, and infrastructure programs for state departments of transportation, toll agencies, municipalities, and public-sector clients.
John's expertise spans project management, construction engineering, transportation planning, and strategic business development. His experience includes delivering major transportation improvements involving roadway reconstruction, bridge rehabilitation, intelligent transportation systems, utility coordination, and construction inspection. He is recognized for building collaborative teams, developing practical solutions to complex project challenges, and maintaining a strong focus on communication, quality, and client service.
Before joining Valdes, John served in leadership roles with both public and private organizations, including directing national airport initiatives for the American Concrete Pavement Association. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to advancing the engineering profession by actively participating in industry organizations and mentoring the next generation of transportation professionals.
John is a licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Texas. He is an active member of ACEC Illinois and numerous transportation industry organizations, where he supports advocacy, professional development, and collaboration across the engineering community.
