Webinar: Election 2026 - The Final Countdown

Join ACEC Illinois for a pre-election conversation with three political insiders as they break down the state and federal races shaping the 2026 election. Patrick Pfingsten of The Illinoize, Democratic strategist Tom Bowen of New Chicago Consulting, and Republican strategist Mark Cavers of High Ground Strategies will share their perspectives on the political landscape, the issues driving voters, and what to watch in the final days of the campaign.

From the battle for control of Congress to key races in Illinois, the panel will look at where things stand, what could change before Election Day, and what the results could mean for the direction of public policy.

Patrick Pfingsten | The Illinoize

Patrick Pfingsten is a political journalist, commentator and consultant who writes The Illinoize, a newsletter covering Illinois politics and government. He began his career as a reporter at WDWS in Champaign, where he covered state and local politics and earned recognition from the Illinois Broadcasters Association for his reporting on Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s impeachment trial. He has also worked on political campaigns and provides commentary on Illinois government and elections.

Tom Bowen | New Chicago Consulting

Tom Bowen is a managing partner at New Chicago Consulting and a Democratic political strategist with experience in local, state and national campaigns. He has managed six campaigns and worked on or consulted for more than 75 local and federal races, including Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. Bowen served as deputy campaign manager for Rahm Emanuel’s 2011 mayoral campaign and has also worked with Illinois Senate President Don Harmon’s political team. He regularly provides political analysis to Chicago and national media.

Mark Cavers | High Ground Strategies

Mark Cavers is a political strategist who has helped candidates, leaders and advocacy organizations win competitive races and advance public policy. He has advised and managed local, state and federal campaigns nationwide and has designed and directed hundreds of political, advocacy, public relations and government relations campaigns. Known for building data-driven campaigns and disciplined execution, Cavers has also held senior roles in nonprofit fundraising and government relations and has served in state government.
